By accessing or using SyllabusAI ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

SyllabusAI is an AI-powered learning platform that transforms YouTube videos and playlists into structured study plans with AI-generated quizzes, flashcards, and progress tracking. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available."

3. User Accounts

  • You must sign in using Google OAuth to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information.
  • You may not use another person's account without permission.
  • You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service.

4. Free and Pro Plans

4.1 Free Plan

  • 1 active playlist per month
  • 5 quiz questions per video
  • Basic study schedule and progress tracking

4.2 Pro Plan ($9/month or $89.99/year)

  • Up to 5 active playlists per month
  • Comprehensive AI quizzes
  • Flashcard mode with spaced repetition
  • Export study plans as PDF
  • Email study reminders

Plan limits reset at the beginning of each calendar month. We reserve the right to modify plan features and pricing with reasonable notice.

5. Payments & Subscriptions

  • Pro subscriptions are billed through Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Lemon Squeezy account dashboard.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 7 days of purchase for refund requests.
  • We are not responsible for any fees charged by your bank or payment provider.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Submit malicious, harmful, or misleading content
  • Abuse the AI generation features (e.g., automated bulk requests)
  • Circumvent or manipulate plan limits or usage restrictions
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service without permission
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the Service

7. Content & Intellectual Property

7.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of any URLs you submit. However, by using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process the associated YouTube content (transcripts, metadata) solely for the purpose of generating study materials for you.

7.2 Generated Content

AI-generated quizzes, flashcards, and study schedules are created for your personal educational use. You may export and use these materials for personal learning. You may not commercially redistribute AI-generated content.

7.3 YouTube Content

SyllabusAI does not host, store, or redistribute YouTube videos. We access publicly available video metadata and transcripts through the YouTube Data API. All video content remains the property of the original creators. By using SyllabusAI, you also agree to YouTube's Terms of Service.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

  • The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated quizzes or study materials.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service.
  • AI-generated content is for educational purposes only and should not be relied upon as the sole source of information.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SyllabusAI and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

10. Account Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
  • Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days unless legally required to be retained.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notification.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first.
